That is a good point. Man, Pokemon attacks are weird.

Yeah, that's always confused me... that, and how a level 4 Shinx's Intimidate somehow manages to intimidate the level 100 Blaziken I normally keep at the front of my party.

Reply spudwalt (Guest), August 30th, 2009, 1:51 pm

Yeah, I can see Intimidate working if it's a Gyarados, but not so much when it's a Pokemon that's about the size of a housecat.

I would listen to the youngster and just ignore the logic. Pokemon logic isn't supposed to make sense in the real world - it's a game. A game based around people who catch and battle animals with infeasible powers. It's just silly to take anything from the game seriously.

It does tend to make for amusing situations, though.

Perhaps Pokemon Tails have supernatural defense-lowering powers.
Makes about as much sense as anything else in these games.

Creating logic in Pokemon games, eh?

Why not? I'm always up for a challange...

Let's look at the move itself, or to be exact, it's description. To paraphrase it, the user wags its tail cutely. The opponent's pokemon, upon seeing this, thinks the user of the move isn't is tough as it thought. Thus, it lets it guard down, thereby lowering its defense.

However... If I am right, then a new question presents itself:

How does a large pokemon (such as Steelix, or better yet. Groudon) wag its tail cutely?

Reply Sonow, August 31st, 2009, 8:24 pm

It probily becomes even more effective. I mean, us compared to a kitten... we're like 10x the size of a kitten. I'm sure bigger pokemon, seeing a smaller pokemong, probily get just as effected.

I mean, seeing something to tiney wag it's tail aughta make you go like, "Awwww..." and lower your def, eh?

actually, it sorta tickles the opponent with its tail... I think

Reply Star-kun, May 10th, 2010, 6:53 pm

Distractions I think Tail Whip distracts the other pokemon, so it has an easier chance of damaging more...thus lowering defence.

Also notice the Sharpedo's awesome hovering capability.
